Krinkledinks and Grodsnips are tiny creatures that live under flat, stationary items such as carpets, rugs, bathmats, and (rarely) linoleum floors.

Krinkledinks and Grodsnips are not microscopic, meaning you can see them with the naked eye. But they are exceedingly small, with adults rarely growing to be more than 10 frummets tall. (A frummet is a Krinkledinkian unit of measurement. The head of pin is about 40 frummets in diameter.)

Krinkledinks are hatched from eggs, which are light orange in color and feel somewhat spongy. Newly hatched Krinkledinks are not pink but a pale white. As they grow they turn a deep red, finally becoming bright pink as they approach maturity.

Grodsnips are born from their mothers, just like humans and other mammals. The mother carries a baby Grodsnip inside her body for four days until it is ready to be born. (Yes, this seems like a very short amount of time to us. To a Grodsnip mother it feels like an eternity.)

Grodsnips are born blue, but the spiky pink hair that characterizes the adult Grodsnip does not appear until it's fully grown (at about three months of age.)

Because they live under rugs and other flat objects (where it's dark) the eyes of Krinkledinks and Grodsnips have grown extremely sensitive to light. What looks like pitch blackness to us looks like ordinary daylight to them! As a result, any time they're forced to come out from their rug, they must immediately shut their eyes or risk damaging them!

The diet of both Krinkledinks and Grodsnips consists largely of the dust that accumulates under rugs and mats. Ever lift up a rug and see lots of dust? There would be a lot more if it weren't for Krinkledinks and Grodsnips!

Long, long ago, a mouse stuck its nose under a rug where Krinkledinks and Grodsnips lived. It was the largest living thing they'd ever seen and it frightened them immensely. The story of the mouse was retold again and again with each new generation. The Grodsnips named the mouse Vogoomblap which roughly translates as "Scary Hairy Mountain".
