Kids over five (including a surprising number of girls) love to be scared, shocked, grossed out and otherwise gently tormented. “We’re not scared,” they insist, “Bring it on!” This dark desire is served by a whole parade of books, TV shows, video games and movies. But unless you count threadbare classics like “The Monster Mash” and “The Purple People Eater”... there’s been very little scary music, and even less of any depth or quality. (R.I.P. to our favorite Thriller...)
